General Shelton: Stop Rewarding Iran for Lying

On August 6, General Shelton published an article on Newsweek titled, “To Stop Iran Gaining Nukes, Stop Rewarding It for Lying.”  General Shelton, who attended the international gathering calling for Democratic Change in Iran back in June, commended President-elect Maryam Rajavi, for demanding the entire nuclear program Iran be shut down.

“Rajavi had a valid point when she said that if the mullahs had the will, six months would have been sufficient to reach a comprehensive agreement on nuclear weapons development. The time for gesturing and posturing by Tehran is over. The mullahs should have forfeited their drive for nuclear weapons years ago. No one should be rewarded for stalling and haggling. Why should the mullahs be? One can only wonder why the Obama administration does not get it.”

In the article, General Shelton declares that the Iranian Resistance is the only viable alternative to the ‘tyrannical and unelected theocracy’ ruling Iran.

General Shelton’s main message, that while this regime is still in power, America must lead by example and stop rewarding Iran’s ‘lying’ mullahs:

President Hassan Rouhani of Iran has openly bragged on Iranian television that he deceived the international community about Iran’s nuclear ambitions and capabilities while he served as the regime’s chief negotiator. If past is prologue, we are turning a blind eye to his behavior at our own peril.

President-elect Maryam Rajavi has repeatedly warned the dangers of not holding the Iranian Regime accountable for their actions: “‘the international community’s weakness, delays, and compromises’ will enable Khamenei to once again resort to deception and duplicity.”

Maryam Rajavi in an exclusive interview with Fox News | Conference for Democratic Change in Iran

In an exclusive interview with Fox News, President-elect Maryam Rajavi expresses to Eric Shawn that she is confident that mullah’s religious dictatorship will not last in the 21st century:

“I am confident that the mullahs’ religious dictatorship ruling Iran will not last in the 21st century and will be overthrown,” predicts the group’s leader, Maryam Rajavi. “It really begs logic to expect this religious dictatorship, the founder of terrorism and fundamentalism in the whole of the region and is seeking nuclear weapons, to take international policy hostage, to continue and endure.”

Maryam Rajavi continues…

“The mullahs do not represent the Iranian people,” she said. “What the Iranian people are yearning for and what represents them, is an Iran which the Iranian resistance envisions: an Iran which is free, democratic and where the ballot box speaks, a non-nuclear Iran, with gender equality, where women and men and youth enjoy equal rights and do not threaten and endanger the world with war and challenges.”

Eric Shawn of Fox News Attends Annual Conference for Democratic Change in Iran

Again, Maryam Rajavi expresses her confidence to Eric Shawn in the movement for Democratic Change in Iran:

“The experience is out there, including in the history of the United States, such as George Washington and the people of America who decided to stand up to colonialism to gain independence, such as Abraham Lincoln and the price he paid and the wars he waged to abolish slavery and the price the people of America paid during the time of Dr. Martin Luther King for civil rights and the struggle of the people of America for the freedom of women. These are all historical experiences and I am, therefore, confident. My experience, and that of the Iranian people tell us that when a people, a nation decides to fight and pay the price for the rights it deserves, such as democracy, freedom and equality, when it decides to fight for these pay the price, for values which shine in history of all human societies … it will certainly achieve it.”

Maryam Rajavi Meets With President Of National Coalition For Syrian Revolutionary

Maryam Rajavi

Maryam Rajavi meets with SNC President Ahmad Jarba in Paris.

On May 23, 2014, President-elect Maryam Rajavi, met with the President of National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary, Ahmad Jarba, to discuss solutions regarding the struggle for freedom  the people of Syria and Iran are currently facing.

“In this meeting Maryam Rajavi condemned the role of the religious fascism ruling Iran in the crackdown of the Syrian people and their massacre, and its all-out support for the Bashar Assad dictatorship. Ahmad Jarba praised the Iranian Resistance’s solidarity and brotherhood with the Syrian revolution, adding we and the Iranian people are in one joint fort against a common enemy, and struggling to reach a common goal,” the Azzaman International daily stated.

Rajavi and Jarba condemned the Iranian regime for the harmful role they have played throughout the Syrian crisis.  The death toll of the Syrian crisis has reached 162,000 people, and has forced more than 3 million refugees into neighboring countries, according to Breitbart News Network.

Rajavi stressed the importance to rally members of the international community to support the Free Syrian Army and the National Coalition for Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces, as the representatives of Syrian people.  Additionally, Rajavi criticized the role of the Iranian regime in the massacre of the Syrian people and its support for the Assad regime.  Rajavi stated:

“Through our struggle, we can rid our countries from dictatorship and the rule of Velayt-e- faqih (absolute rule of clergy) and bring about freedom and democracy for the people of Syria and Iran.”
